Dear Family, Friends and Friends of Friends,
Please join us as we launch this fundraising campaign in honor of Ari's courageous journey to recovery and in honor of Chai-Lifeline, an organization that was there with us from the very first days of Ari's diagnosis and still is, holding our hand through these unprecedented times.
Throughout Ari's journey we've learned time and time again, the true magic and real power that community has on our life. Who knew, that in an instant you could be lifted by hundreds of people and carried through an excruciating eighteen hour long brain surgery and the following six weeks at the pediatric ICU. Who knew that more surgeries would follow for our little lion (Ari in Hebrew means lion). Who knew, that so many angels would be sent to us by friends and family to make sure we were taken care of at all times.
Who knew, that you can feel so close and held by a complete stranger just days after your two year old son was diagnosed with a brain tumor. This stranger was Mrs Alyssa Weisel, Chai Lifeline's representative who flew from Los Angeles to San Francisco to show her support for our family. Chai Lifeline entered our world when it was shattered to pieces by the news that would change the course of our lives for the next two years.. Alyssa did it with the utmost respect and made sure we knew Chai Lifeline had our back. They were ready to help us in contacting top neurosurgeons in the country, sent toys to Ari and Aya, check in on us daily and deal with health insurance questions.
In the past two years we had the privilege of becoming a part of an incredible community of families who have kids with life threatening tumors, cancer, disabilities and chronic illnesses. All of these amazing families couldn't do it without the incredible support of Chai Lifeline.
Every day, Chai Lifeline staff and volunteers around the world work to improve the lives of children like Ari. Providing unparalleled social, emotional, and financial assistance. In our recent move to Los Angeles, earlier this year, Chai Lifeline stepped up again and helped to intimately connect us with the leadership at Children's Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA) so that we could find our local endocrinologist.
Chai Lifeline's impact on our lives continues until today. Both Ari and Aya get to enjoy and play with two amazing young ladies as part of their volunteer program. Aya who had to give up so much meaningful time and attention to make space for Ari's diagnosis and recovery, now gets to enjoy some very special time at the i-Shine program that is also run by young volunteers. She absolutely loves and looks forward to get on zoom with her buddies every week. While Aya is zooming away, Ari gets to enjoy special focused time with our amazing Chai Lifeline volunteers!
Today is our turn to give thanks and show gratitude to Chai Lifeline's staff, volunteers and families. This year, families confronting pediatric illness and loss are also faced with unprecedented health and economic challenges due to the global pandemic. They need our help more than ever before.
